Summary

KRAV has elaborate standards for fishing covering stock assessment, fishing vessels, fishing methods, landing and processing. There are several standards which focus on environmental issues (KRAV standards chapter 19).

Difference

Fishing is not covered in the EU Regulation 2092/91.

Justification

Fishing has a huge environmental impact. At the time of establishing the KRAV fishing standard it was not possible to use the Marine Stewardship Council standard due to strong resistance by the fishermen’s association.
