Comments on the system for certification and/or inspection in the country

All organic operators are certified according to EC 834/2007. Codex Alimentarius regulates certain aspects that exceed the scope of EC Regulation or where explicit reference is made to national regulations. This concerns mainly animal husbandry and processing.

Certification fees and inspection fees for organic farmers in the country

Basic fee: 88 € Variable fees: Pasture farms: 5.50 €/ha; farms with arable fields and pasture: 6.60 €/ha; special crops: 15.40 €/ha. However, min 121 € and maximum 650 € per farm operation. Additonal fees: Bio Austria + 11 €, Demeter + 44 €, Apiaries: + 0.77 € per bee hive. 44 €/h for extra efforts/requests.

Certification fees and inspection fees for organic processors in the country

Fees are dependent on the organic turnover. Fixed NET fee for inspection & certification: Turnover < 20000 €: 220 €; plus 100 € for import activities. Turnover < 200000 €: 330 € plus 200 € for import activities. Turnover > 200000 €: 460 € plus 400 € for import activities.
