Summary

The use of synthetic vitamins is generally permitted, both for monogastric animals and for ruminants. (KEZ Standards, Part 2, 9.2).

Difference

EU Regulation 2092/91 Annex II/D 1.2 allows the use of synthetic vitamins only for monogastric animals. The use of synthetic vitamins of types A, D and E for ruminants is allowed under limited conditions. KEZ Standards contain further requirements; they require recommendation from a veterinarian and permission of the certification body for their use in any case.

Justification

The standard-setting body could not give a justification.
