Difference

EU Regulation 2092/91 specifies the minimum surface areas indoors and outdoors and other characteristics of housing in the different species and types of production. Both US and EU require outdoor access for any animals. US requires in addition pasture for ruminants and does not allow derogations. EU requires pasture for herbivores 'wherever conditions allow'. EU waves outdoor access for herbivores in winter under certain conditions.
